In prenatal meetings, we will spend time thoughtfully looking at what happened to bring about your Cesarean birth. Depending on the cause(s), there are things you can do during the pregnancy and during the birth to prevent an unwanted repeat cesarean.
"Recipe" for VBAC:
-Mother in good physical condition-not Olympic, just good! No major medical conditions or confirmed physical anomalies (these are rare).
-Supportive OB or Midwife as care provider
-Labor starts naturally when your baby & your body are ready; no induction
-Forgo or delay pain medication so that you can be mobile & feel your body's signals
-Active, effective doula support prenatally & during labor & delivery
-Mother willing & able to be active & upright during much of labor
-Staff & family are trusting, patient, and encouraging of birthing woman; giving her the time & privacy she needs to find her way through to birth her baby as her body knows how.
"Michelle is an extraordinary woman who helped me to achieve
my dream of vaginally delivering my son after two cesareans. Without her
knowledge and support we never would have had our magical moment of
natural birth. I'm so happy that Michelle was able to be there during
the roller coaster of emotions that ran free in those 12 hours. Thank
you so much Michelle for just being you, you'll always have a special
place in my heart."
